The existing home had a mix of worn engineered flooring and tile. The homeowner wanted to update the interior after purchasing the property, so VAM Services installed approximately 1,600 square feet of new engineered hardwood flooring.

The new flooring was installed over the existing surfaces using an approved glue-down system. The project also included underlayment, minor floor leveling, preparation of selected tile areas, two transition thresholds, and customer-supplied pre-painted quarter round.

Preparation before installation

The existing quarter round was removed first. Small areas that needed correction were leveled, and selected tile surfaces were ground or sanded to help prepare them for the new flooring system. An approved underlayment was installed before the engineered hardwood was laid.

Because the home had different existing surfaces, layout and transitions required careful planning. The engineered hardwood continued through the connected rooms while the installation addressed changes in height and adjoining surfaces.

Two transition thresholds were installed: one at the office and one at the bathroom. The customer supplied pre-painted quarter round, which was cut and fitted after the new floor was installed.

A consistent finished floor throughout the home

The completed installation created a more unified look across the entry, hallway, kitchen, living areas, and other connected spaces. Replacing the worn engineered flooring and tile gave the recently purchased home a cleaner, more current interior finish.
